Fortnite World Cup 2020: The event has been canceled

Long awaited now, the World Cup on Fortnite will not finally take place as it took place every year. The Fortnite World Cup 2020 event has been canceled due to the Coronavirus crisis, due to containment measures, and the restriction on physical gatherings. Although they have a choice, Epic Games prefer to play it safe by not organizing any physical competition during the year 2020. Some additional indications are provided, but we must still wait to find out more.

Cancellation of the Fortnite World Cup 2020

As we might have suspected for some time now, the World Cup cannot take place this summer. However, Epic Games preferred to clarify the situation by announcing that there would be no physical competition until 2021. The Fortnite World Cup 2020 is therefore canceled, as are the other events, such as the Pro-AM. In return, online competitions will take place throughout the year, including the FNCS which become a seasonal event.

Physical Events – For the rest of the year, all Fortnite competitions will be live. Due to competition limitations between regions of the world, there will be no Fortnite World Cup in 2020.

However, and despite the measures taken by the publisher, there is no guarantee that competitions will resume in 2021. While there is a good chance that the Fortnite World Cup 2021 can go off without a hitch, nothing new has been announced regarding the restriction of competitions between different regions of the world. We will therefore have to be patient and wait a few more months before knowing more about it.

Even if it is a little sad to see that the Fortnite World Cup will not take place, the compensation offered by Epic Games is still very interesting. Many competitions will be held throughout the year, allowing more players to participate.
